A Message From Principal Brian Shepherd

The staff at West Noble Primary School hopes you had a great summer and are now ready to get back to school. We had a great year at WNP and are ready to improve even more in the upcoming school year.
Our custodial staff has worked very hard to prepare our building for the start of the 2024-25 school year. They have set the tone with a fresh coat of paint and a shine on the floors: Way to go Tracy Pelfrey, Cindy Staton, Robin Moser and Tim Records!
We look forward to serving your child as a whole person. We care for them from an educational side with great programs such as Pre and Post Assessments, small group instruction for reading and math, Tier 1, 2,& 3, Grapeseed, and Building Leaders. CKLA is our new reading knowledge based curriculum. This new curriculum will focus on knowledge based readers that help students attain an understanding of reading through non-fiction text. This model for reading instruction is supplied by many studies used to develop the science of reading method.
The Primary will also have a Cadre for the next two years. The Cadre’s mission is to be our coach in the classroom. Mrs. Sitts, our Coach & Cadre, will make teaching better @ WNP focusing on a set of four teachers at a time. WNP believes in a growth mindset.
We also focus on the physical wellness of your child. We have a fitness club with 50, 100, and 150 mile club levels. Each level earns awards with the 150 mile club members receiving shoes. Look for the Charger Mile papers to come home sometime in September. WNP will compete against other schools in a 1000 meter run at the WNHS. We are defending champions!
WNP believes in the power of kindness. Our first grade classrooms will go on several “Kindness Missions”. Look for them out in the community doing “The Right Thing” for others! The kindness parade will be back for the 2024-25 school year!
WNP will continue to use the MTSS model ( multi- tier system of support). Your child will receive on level instruction based on Common Assessments. This will enable your child to work toward grade level or be enriched. The goal is to assure that all students have mastered the critical standards, represented on WNP’s Standards Based Report Card, before moving on to the next level.
WNP believes strongly in EQ (Emotional Quotient). We want your child to feel safe and loved before we move to IQ. To do this we focused on providing students with the appropriate social and emotional skills to be successful in life. With programs like “Little Leaders”, “Little Spot Social/Emotional learning curriculum”,”You are a Social Detective” curriculum, and the Kindness Program, West Noble Primary students are given many opportunities to incorporate and practice social/emotional skills during their years at the Primary School.
Throughout the year you may hear your child talk about the color spots. These are a large part of our EQ focus, it is important for your child to have the confidence to express their emotions and to understand that ALL feelings are ok. Each color is attached to a feeling and we practice weekly expressing those feelings. Your child will also learn which spots need each other and how to cope with big emotions that are hard to handle alone.
Color Spots
Red - I feel angry
Blue - I feel sad
Gray - I feel scared
Yellow - I feel happy
Orange - I feel confident
Pink - I feel love
Green - I feel peaceful
Purple - I feel ready to learn
Your child’s supplies will be $5 for kindergarten and $5 for first grade. Please send the money with your child on the first day of school. In addition, there will be a list of other supplies, found online, for your child to bring on the first day.
Great things are happening at West Noble Primary School! This is due to a great staff that is willing to work with you as a parent to help your child reach their fullest potential. Please feel free to come visit us. We look forward to working with you!
WNP’s mission is simple, but not easy!
#LIVE LEARN LAUGH LEAD
By accomplishing our mission daily we move to being successful with our vision.
“To be the best me at WNP”
